Thu May 15, 2008 at 10:32:45 AM PDT

A friend of a friend of a friend put together this information.

Somehow, I don't think anybody in the chain of transmission would mind me posting any of it.

Just want to share some pictures with you about the earthquake in China.  Hope we all can give some help.  Thank you.

Hi, all,

As you may have noticed, reports from mainstream media are relatively
limited regarding Sichuan earthquake. Many Americans may not have access
to those shocking pictures.

*** **** compiled some pictures, emailed them to colleagues in her
department and called for donation. So far, it has been really
successful. If you would like to encourage your coworkers to donate, you
can try what she did.

The pictures are attached for your convenience.

As suggested by others, the possibly best way to donate: write a check
to "Chinese Consulate General in New York" (For) "Earthquake Relief
Donation"(put down the words on the check). mailing add: Liu Lei,520
12th Ave, New York, NY 10036. web:

  1. Hong Kong Red Cross :

  1. Canadian Red Cross: https://www.paypaq.com/redcross/new/...

One advantage of donating through American red cross is that you
can get a tax deduction.  I am not sure donating on their website will
guarantee that your money will end up in helping earthquake in China.  The best way is to write a check and specify on the check "for China earthquake only".
American red cross will honor your request.  Here is how to donate
through American red cross by sending a check:
mailing your donation, with the designation, to the American Red Cross,P.O. Box 37243, Washington, D.C. 20013

Note:
people feel uncomfortable writing a check to an individual.

If you collect the checks and mail them in an envelope, write a cover
letter listing all the donators and amounts. Advise NY consulate that
you are the contact person. Advise them when they mail receipts for tax
deduction, give separate receipt for each donator.

Best wishes for our country
